He is perhaps best known for the collaborative work with his partner Maj Sjöwall on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm, published between 1965 and 1975. I picked this one up because in later years, Per Wahloo (with his wife Maj Sjowall) went on to write what have been considered classics of Scandinavian detective fiction--or detective fiction in general, even. The Lorry is a really enjoyable novel--and a quick read--albeit not in the manner that you might expect.
